Comic for May 22, 2015 | Previous | Back to the start of this story | Back to the very beginning

May 22, 2015 :: Today's comic is a special presentation that I made to celebrate the release of my friends Summer Camp's new album, Bad Love! It's also a celebration of Eric Clapton's "Bad Love", which I enjoy singing around the home. The bit in the video at 0'58 where they unveil Clapton's new droopy moustache is just stellar. We can talk about my love of Eric Clapton's "Behind The Mask" another day, but if you have a band and you want call your album "Behind The Mask" we can get into this.

Bad Machinery hardcovers for people in the UK.

GOOD NEWS! Readers in the UK, I have a limited supply of Bad Machinery books 2 and 3 in hardcover. That’s The Case Of The Good Boy and The Case Of The Simple Soul. I usually keep these back for conventions, but with a light appearance schedule in 2015, I’m putting them on sale. Quantities are very limited (less than 20 of each), so act quickly as I won’t be getting any more in. Shipping is £3.

Readers in the USA and points beyond can (of course) get the hardcovers (books 1-3) from Topatoco.

Giant Days #1 out MARCH 18TH!

One of the questions I’ve been asked the most over the last four years is “when will there be more Giant Days?” The first issue was a real stab in the dark at a time when I was feeling creatively under the weather, and it steadied the ship. The two issues that came out in 2013 felt like they had a momentum that I didn’t have the energy to fully pursue while working on Bad Machinery. So last spring I asked Boom! Studios if they’d be interested in publishing it as a six-issue limited series with me writing and one of my favourite artists, Lissa Treiman, drawing it. And here we are!

If you enjoyed Giant Days in print or when it ran on the site, this new series carries on where we left off. If you’re new to the series, the first Boom! Box issue will not leave you high and dry.

If you like the series and want to see more of Esther, Daisy and Susan, please, please tell your friends, join the Facebook page, tell Boom you love it, but most importantly, buy it. Everyone’s worked really hard to make it special, and I couldn’t be more proud of what Lissa, Whitney, Jim, Kara, Jasmine and Shannon have done with my little comics world.

You can get it from your local comic shop, direct from Boom, or from Comixology. I think you’ll enjoy it.

Events, dear boy, events

I have a few upcoming events to promote a. the launch of Giant Days, b. Bad Machinery book 3, c. my own wretched cult of personality.

London Super Comic Con - Excel Centre, March 14th &15th
A mere two tables away from Jonathan Ross (host of Saturday Zoo) at table A3, come and see me enjoying the world of strength and super-heroism, remote from everything and everyone I have ever loved.

Giant Days Signing - Orbital Comics, London - March 28th 2-4pm
I will be signing copies of the all-new, all-different Giant Days #1 at this fine, fancy Central London shop. Please do come by and say hello. I will be sitting behind a table for the sole purpose of meeting you. I’ve even drawn a poster (below).
