July 1, 2016 :: When I started researching folkloric European creatures, I was a little confused by the wild man. Sometimes he's a faun in the Mr Tumnus mode, other times (say, in the work of Albrecht Dürer) he's just a hairy fella groffling through the underbrush. In Italian folklore there are a lot of wild men, wild women (as essayed (possibly) by Natalie Cole in her 1990 hit "Wild Women Do") and wild children. My budget only runs to one hairy imbecile.
